Joplin Tornado Relief

*******Update (7:50 p.m. June 1, 2011): Our next Joplin relief team will be going down to Joplin on Saturday, June 4th. We will be specifically helping Rick and Bri move. Please let us know if you are able to help. Meet at King's Way at 9:30 a.m. and we will all head down together. Call or email if you have any questions.

*******Update (10:15 p.m. May 29, 2011): Our next Joplin Relief team leaves Monday morning at 8. Just meet at the church and we will all carpool together. We will be back by 5 p.m.

*******Update (9:20 p.m. May 28, 2011): We had a team of 48 people go help with Joplin Relief today. Everyone worked so hard and we were able to accomplish a lot. We cleaned up a lot of debris, cut up a bunch of fallen trees, hauled a lot of wood, prayed with individuals, and so many other things. Way to go King's Way family!

*******Update (7:15 p.m. May 26, 2011): Our first King's Way team went down to Joplin today. We partnered up with College Heights Christian Church and helped clean up several blocks of a neighborhood mainly removing downed trees and cleaning up debris. We also had one team help out one of our church families (Rick and Bri) with sorting through any items they were able to salvage from their house. Thank you everybody for your help. Our next team heads out Saturday morning. Keep an eye on this site and our facebook page for more information.

*******Update (9:15 p.m. May 25, 2011): Our first response team is leaving Thursday, May 26, at 8:00 a.m. from King's Way. We will be helping specific families with salvaging and cleanup, partnering with College Heights Christian Church and Mt. Hope Church of Christ to help with shelters and distribution of supplies, and helping with search and rescue. If you want to help be at the church at 8 in the morning. Please pray that God would help our work to be efficient and effective.

The need is immeasurable, but we are doing our best to be the hands and feet of Jesus as quickly as we can. All money given will be distributed 100% to individuals and families with confirmed needs. You can drop off a check by the church or send a check to:

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE PHYSICAL LABOR
We are always organizing teams to go down to Joplin to help out in different capacities. You can find details on these teams on our facebook page and at the top of this webpage. If you are interested in helping on one of these teams please send an email kingswaychristianchurch@gmail.com, let us know on facebook, or call the church 417-466-3311.

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE SUPPLIES
We are accepting donations for the relief efforts. All donations will be given to families with specific needs and/or organizations that are meeting specific needs.

Items of critical importance include:

  • Baby Food & Formula
  • Basic Hygiene Products (toothbrush, deodorant, Feminine products)
  • Basic Medical Supplies (Tylenol, Bandages, etc)
  • Water
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Plastic bins with lids
  • Tarps
  • Gift-cards/cash

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN GIVE
BLOOD: Reports we’re gathering indicate a shortage of O negative blood in our area. If you can give this precious resource, please contact your local blood bank.

A major distribution point is The Bridge of Joplin, located at 3405 S. Hammons Blvd.  They are supplying many organizations and distribution points from this location.  You may contact The Bridge of Joplin at (417) 206-6886.

College Heights Christian Church, located at 4311 East Newman Road, is also a major distribution center where you can receive all types of supplies.

Mt. Hope Church of Christ, 2830 Mt. Hope Rd, Webb City, MO, is providing shelter to anyone who needs it. They have beds and hot meals. You can contact them at 417-624-1795.
